If you believe having an additional adult role model in your child’s life would be a good thing, then you’ve come to the right place.

Community-based Program

To qualify, children need to be between the ages of 6 and 12 and reside in Onondaga County. Each match will be assigned a mentor manager to provide the volunteer (Big), your child (Little), and you guidance and support throughout the year. Since volunteers are carefully screened, and we try to find the adult mentor that best fits the personality and interests of your child, it could take several months before we find your child’s match.

There is no cost to you to have your child join our program, and more than one child per family can participate in the program.

Our only request is that your child be committed to this program for 8 hours per month, for a minimum of one year. To enroll, email us at bbbs@peace-caa.org or call us at (315) 470-3369 ext. 307.

School-based Program

The School-Based Mentoring program operates after school one day a week for the entire school year at either the high school or elementary school. Big Brothers Big Sisters provides transportation home after each program.

The elementary students “Littles” are recommended for participation in the program by teachers, social workers and other school personnel. If you are interested in enrolling your child, see the list of schools participating, if your school is on the list please contact the social worker or your child’s teacher to enroll.
