Our School-Based Mentor Managers work 25 hours per week. They hold programs at 4 different schools throughout the week and have one “free day” to take
care of paper work, input the matches into the data system, buy snacks & supplies for their respective programs, prepare activities for the following week, etc.
Typically they are done at the end of the school calendar year, 2nd or 3rd week in June and go on summer lay-off. They report back towards the end of
August and start working on getting materials ready, i.e. applications, setting up appointments for recruitment dates, etc. so that all programs can get started
at the latest by the last week in September.
Mentor Managers work closely with school administrators, guidance counselors and socials worker to identify the students who are going to be a part of the
School-Based mentoring programs. They are also in charge of submitting transportation requests so they can be sent on to Durham Transport to coordinate
the schedules with them. Durham provides transportation home to all the children participating in the programs,
